A bid by a Henry County commissioner to pass a resolution in support of Stockbridge’s objection to pending legislation regarding the proposed city of Eagles Landing never actually made it to a vote.

Bruce Holmes moved to amend the agenda of the Feb. 20 regular meeting to add such a resolution and send a letter to the governor while also allowing public comment on the matter in the same meeting. Dee Clemmons seconded, but she and Holmes were the only two in favor as Gary Barham, Blake Prince, Johnny Wilson and board chair June Wood voted against.

Stockbridge has received support already from numerous municipalities in the region regarding the bills now in the General Assembly which would allow a referendum to potentially take away existing Stockbridge land and place it in the new city. No city in Georgia has ever been created by taking property from an existing city.
