There’s a beach hidden in DeKalb County

Pools are open for the season, but there's another spot for DeKalb residents to cool down this summer.

Pine Lake Beach, tucked away east of Decatur and west of Stone Mountain is the crown jewel of Pine Lake, DeKalb County's smallest city. With less than 800 residents, Pine Lake has a small-town feel and the community-oriented residents often gather at Pine Lake Beach House for events.

Things to know before you go:

  • The beach is open from dawn until sunset from May through October.
  • Fishing is allowed, so bring a fishing pole (and your fishing license).
  • Alcoholic beverages are a no-no except during special events.
