A park in Brookhaven is getting a major face-lift, thanks to a donation from the Atlanta Hawks Foundation and State Farm.

The Hawks’ nonprofit is donating $165,000 toward improving the facilities at Lynwood Park, which includes a renovated red basketball court with the logos for the Hawks, State Farm and Brookhaven on it, according to the city.

The Brookhaven City Council voted to approve the donation at its meeting on Tuesday.

The improvements at the park are expected to be completed in mid-September. The Hawks have built more than a dozen similar courts, including four in Atlanta's Central Park last year.

“The Atlanta Hawks have already proven to be an invaluable community partner in the short time since they located their practice facility in Brookhaven,” Mayor John Ernst said in a statement. “This investment in our youth underscores the continuing commitment of the Hawks and State Farm to enhance healthy recreational opportunities in Brookhaven and beyond.”

The 90,000-square-foot Emory Sports Medicine Complex in southern Brookhaven contains the official training and practice facility of the Hawks.
