While all municipal offices in Henry County are closed until further notice, Hampton is the first to officially announced the cancellation of next month’s regularly scheduled meeting of its governing body.
Mayor Steve Hutchison released a statement March 20 stating that he made the decision to cancel the City Council’s meeting scheduled for April 14. He said the decision was made after participating in numerous public health briefings and consulting with city manager Alex Cohilas. Hutchison added that the city “will not permit or sponsor any public gatherings until further notice,” but city services will continue without interruption and City Hall can still be contacted by phone or email.
