A Hall County jailer who allegedly fired a shotgun during a domestic dispute early Saturday was arrested, along with the female acquaintance he was fighting, authorities said.

Conner Comeaux, 20, of Gainesville was charged with several counts, including simple battery, reckless conduct and discharging a firearm near a public roadway.

Courtney Barker, 19, also of Gainesville, was charged with simple battery.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said the two were involved in an altercation around 1:30 a.m. in the 2500 block of Venture Drive in northwest Hall County.

Investigators said at some point Comeaux apparently fired a shotgun into the air near a roadway in front of the residence. No one was injured by the shotgun blast.

Comeaux, who has been employed by the Hall County Jail since May, was placed on administrative leave while his employment status is reviewed, authorities said.

He was freed on $7,600 bond, and Barker was freed on $5,000 bond.
