A Gwinnett County woman was arrested Saturday for allegedly trying to bring two children from Mexico to Georgia.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection has charged Karla Vianey Yanez, 28, with human smuggling, The Brownsville Herald reported.

Yanez, of a Duluth address, claimed the two boys were her son and nephew, according to the report. She was arrested after she and the boys, ages 6 and 7, took a taxi to an immigration office. There, officials determined the documentation Yanez provided for boys, from Acapulco, was not legitimate, the newspaper reported.

Officials believe Yanez, who has lived in the Atlanta area since 1998 according to address records, planned to bring the boys, both undocumented immigrants, back to Georgia. Yanez is being held without bond pending a detention hearing.
