Gwinnett voters can interact with the state’s new voting equipment Thursday.

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, residents can ask election-related questions and see the new voting machines.

The voter education event is hosted by Commissioner Marlene Fosque.

“We have three big elections coming up this year, and it’s crucial that people understand the electoral process,” Fosque said in a statement. “This event is intended to help familiarize people with the voting process and to encourage people to participate in our democracy.”

A representative from the Secretary of State’s office and employees from Gwinnett’s voter registration and elections department will talk about provisional ballots, absentee and advance voting and navigating the Secretary of State’s My Voter Page website.

Two sets of voting equipment will be set up in the auditorium of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center. After a demonstration of the equipment, people will be able to touch the machines and get their questions answered.

Residents will also be able to register to vote, change their names and addresses on their voter registrations or apply for jobs as poll workers.

The event will be held at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville.
