Gwinnett County is on track to have its largest advance voting turnout in history, officials said Monday.
County spokesman Joe Sorenson said that, through Saturday, 58,708 voters had cast advance in-person ballots for the Nov. 8 election. That number was accrued even before the county's full slate of early voting locations opened Monday morning — and puts Gwinnett well on pace to break the record of 88,798 that was set in 2008.
"It looks like we're on track to have the largest pre-election vote that we've ever had," Sorenson said.

Overall, a total of 69,453 Gwinnett County votes had been counted before the start of Monday's voting. That number includes absentee ballots (10,453) and electronic ballots received from military members and others overseas (292).
Early voting started Oct. 17 in Gwinnett and got off to a roaring start, with residents waiting up to four and five hours to cast their ballots on the first day. Turnout was so high that the county opened two satellite locations on Oct. 24, a week earlier than scheduled.
