A pregnant woman called police to her Norcross apartment on April 13, saying her roommate’s boyfriend had tried to sexually assault her and threatened her with a machete. The roommate told police her boyfriend had sexually assaulted her the previous night.

The boyfriend went only by Elvin Amaya, which police believed to be a pseudonm. After the case was publicized Monday, police found Yanez-Amaya was the suspect they were looking for, and that he was incarcerated at the Walton County Jail in Florida on unrelated charges.

It is not clear when Yanez-Amaya will face the charges against him in Gwinnett County.
