A Gwinnett County man pleaded guilty last week to sexually abusing three young girls, the district attorney's office said.

Jose Dimitrio Sanchez, 42, was sentenced to serve 35 years in prison.

According to a news release from the Gwinnett district attorney's office:

"In April 2014, the youngest victim's 5th grade teacher confiscated a journal/diary which documented the youngest victim's abuse. The teacher and school counselor spoke with the victim and the abuse came to light. The girl also told them that her 2 sisters were being sexually abused by [Sanchez] as well."

The charges against Sanchez included rape, four counts of aggravated child molestation and three counts of child molestation. After the first three witnesses in his trial testified last week, Sanchez entered an Alford plea, which allows a defendant to enter a guilty plea without actually admitting guilt.

Officials noted that the plea "spared the three victims from having to testify."

Sanchez will be deported after his sentence is complete. Gwinnett County jail records list his birthplace only as Mexico.
