Jhonathan Romero-Alvarez has been convicted of felony hit-and-run after a three-day trial this week, the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office said.

Romero-Alvarez, 25, was involved in a three-car accident in 2015, and was the only driver who fled the scene, the DA’s office said.

Romero-Alvarez and two other drivers struck Dante Wilson at the intersection of Boggs Road and Magnolia Pointe Boulevard in Duluth on Oct. 26 2015. Romero-Alvarez was identified as the first driver to hit Wilson, who died at the scene of the accident.

Romero-Alvarez waited 24 hours to contact police about the accident, the DA’s office said.

After trial, Romero-Alvarez was sentenced to 44 months in prison, and a year and four months of probation.
