The grenade found inside a car at a Snellville-area gas station Sunday afternoon proved to be a piece of memorabilia.

The marijuana and prescription pills also found in the car, however, were very real, police said.

The Gwinnett County police bomb squad was summoned to the Chevron station at 3750 Lenora Church Road on Sunday afternoon after 24-year-old Samuel Hart was discovered asleep in his car, which was parked at a gas pump. Hart was beleived to be under the influence of drugs, Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith said.

“Officers located the grenade while conducting an inventory of the vehicle after Hart’s arrest,” Smith said.

The hazardous devices unit was called to the scene and determined that the grenade had been hollowed out, Smith said. Hart will no be charged in connection with the possession of the grenade.
