Gwinnett County’s Coolray Field will host the second metro Atlanta “Georgia Grown To Go” farmer’s market Wednesday.

The pop-up market, which sells boxes of mixed vegetables, peaches, blueberries and Vidalia onions, is being organized by the state Department of Agriculture to help Georgia farmers affected by the coronavirus. Many farmers lost sales to restaurants and big buyers such as school systems that closed.

Boxes of produce from South Georgia farmers can be ordered ahead of time on the Georgia Grown to Go website, and picked up at Coolray Field, 2500 Buford Drive in Lawrenceville, from 3-7 p.m. Wednesday.

Drivers also can purchase after arriving and don’t have to get out of the car to pick up or pay. Buyers also can buy a box to donate to charity.

The pop-up market in Cobb County on Saturday saw 2,070 prepurchased orders, equaling $146,000 in sales, the state Department of Agriculture said. Buyers who drove on-site without a preorder bought another 686 orders, equaling $41,000 in sales. More than 320 boxes were bought and donated to charity.
