The Gwinnett crime roundup is a regular look at crime of note in the county. Information is gleaned from arrest warrants, police incident reports and jail records. It consists of allegations only.
Man accused of flashing girl outside shopping center
On Aug. 31, Duluth police issued arrest warrants charging a 28-year-old man with child molestation and public indecency. He is accused of flashing a young girl at a local shopping center.
According to the warrants, the incident happened around 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at 3455 Peachtree Industrial Blvd., a shopping center that includes a Kroger, LA Fitness and several restaurants. Police say the man, who was listed as "homeless," pulled his pants down, exposed himself and touched himself "in front of [the] juvenile victim."
As of Friday morning, the man remained in the Gwinnett County jail without bond.
Pawning a...pool vacuum?
On Aug. 30, Gwinnett County police issued arrest warrants accusing an Atlanta man of attempting to pawn an unusual stolen item -- a "pool vacuum."
The 45-year-old man tried to sell the item, valued at less than $1,500, at Royal Pawn on Jimmy Carter Boulevard, the warrants allege. It was unclear how he allegedly obtained it.
The man was charged with misdemeanor theft by deception.
'Firing a pistol round through the bathroom wall'
On Aug. 31, Gwinnett County police issued arrest warrants accusing a Lawrenceville woman of "firing a pistol round through the bathroom wall" of an apartment leasing office.
The 27-year-old also had Xanax and marijuana in her possession during the incident at the Meridian Pointe Apartments on Boggs Road, police said.
It was unclear what may have prompted the shooting. It was also unclear if the woman, who was charged with reckless conduct and drug offenses, lived at the complex.
The address listed on her warrants did not correspond with that of the apartments.
Taking on city hall (in a way)
On Aug. 30, Gwinnett County police issued warrants charging a man with several traffic violations, driving under the influence and marijuana possession.
The warrants allege that, on March 6, the 21-year-old Atlantan was driving down Harbins Road in Dacula when he lost control of his car, which rolled and ejected him.
"He and his vehicle came to final rest next to Dacula City Hall," the warrants said.
The man was allegedly under the influence of both alcohol and marijuana.
