A Gwinnett County assisted living facility got a 48 on its recent restaurant health inspection, despite emphasizing the importance of its residents’ diets on its website, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Restaurant workers at the Brookdale Buford, which services Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care patients, reportedly weren’t washing their hands before wearing gloves and weren’t cooking chicken to correct temperature.
The station was not allowed to talk to residents. In an emailed statement, the facility said: “All food-related violations cited by the health department were corrected on-site during the assessment.
“The safety and well-being of our residents are our highest priorities,” the statement continued.
Employees are also being retrained on policies and procedures, Channel 2 reported.
The assisted living facility is expected to be inspected again later this month.
