More than a year after a man was robbed and shot in Duluth, Gwinnett County sheriff’s deputies have arrested the suspect police believe is responsible.

The victim, Guillermo Correa-Cortez, was working at a store on Pleasant Hill Road in Duluth on June 16, 2016 when the incident happened.  The suspect, identified by police as Baltazar Guevara, was “acting weird” in the parking lot of an H Mart when Correa-Cortez asked if he needed anything. Guevara then robbed the victim at gunpoint and shot him in the right calf, according to a police report.

Duluth police later identified Guevara, of Atlanta, as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest. Guevara was arrested in Doraville on Monday by the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit.

He’s being held without bond on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Guevara has also been placed on a hold for the Immigration and Customs Enforcement along with other criminal charges in Dunwoody, according to jail logs.
