The Gwinnett Board of Commissioners recently accepted a $210,576 grant from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for the implementation of the Family Treatment Court. The county will be responsible for an in-kind match of 10 percent, totaling up to $23,397.

The grant will be used to fund personnel, drug treatment, drug testing, surveillance officers, transportation, training, and supplies for the Family Treatment Court Program. With these funds the program will add a Program Coordinator and a Case Manager if approved by CJCC.

Gwinnett has found the accountability courts to be an effective method of treating participants. The goal of this program is to reduce alcohol addiction or substance abuse and improve outcomes for families affected by addictions.
