A groundbreaking ceremony is set for Wednesday to kick off construction on the first section of the Atlanta Beltline’s Southside Trail.
The ceremony will celebrate the first phase of the Southside Trail to go into construction, known as Southside Trail-West. The event will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22 where the westside and southside corridors meet in between Allene Avenue and University Avenue, according to a press release.
Southside Trail-West is a 0.75-mile portion of the overall four-mile southside corridor. Southside Trail-West was selected as the first segment in a phased approach to construction due to its connection between three open and emerging job centers – Pittsburgh Yards, Murphy Crossing, and Lee + White.
Please note the corridor is an unfinished graded railroad gravel surface. Sturdy shoes recommended.
Use GPS coordinates: 33.721306, -84.410917 to find the exact location. Parking will be available at The Bakery, 825 Warner Street, 30310. Street parking is also available.
