Grease was to blame for a recent spill that sent more than 2,100 gallons of sewage into a Gwinnett County creek, officials said.

The spill was reported Wednesday night on the 2900 block of Cardinal Trace in Duluth. According to information released by the Gwinnett County Department of Water Resources, "the spill was approximately 2,102 gallons in volume and entered an unnamed tributary of Sweeterwater Creek."

Officials spread lime and raked the area of the spill. Georgia's Environmental Protection Division was notified.
