Volunteers Needed for Chattahoochee Riverkeeper Neighborhood Water Watch
The City of Roswell will host informational workshops 10 - 11 a.m. Aug. 13 at Roswell Area Park, Bill Johnson Community Activity Building, 10495 Woodstock Road and 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 17 at East Roswell Park Recreation Center, Community Room, 9000 Fouts Road for residents to learn about volunteering with the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper’s Neighborhood Water Watch program. During the workshops, attendees will learn about collecting water samples for the organization to use in its ongoing efforts to ensure water quality.
The Neighborhood Water Watch program aims to improve water quality in urban streams by analyzing water samples for turbidity, conductivity, optical brighteners, and bacteria. These samples are collected by citizen volunteers. This program is suitable for neighborhood groups, families, and students.

Volunteers needed for shore clean-up
More than 1,000 volunteers are expected for the Lake Lanier Association’s annual “Shore Sweep” clean-up of trash and debris.at all sites along the lake short.
The record for one day’s haul by a single crew is nine tons of debris, the association says.
Trash also can be dropped off at eight locations one week prior to the Shore Sweep. The sites will accept trash only when Shore Sweep signs are posted.
