Jimmy Carter National Historic Site looking for volunteers to assist with BioBlitz
The Jimmy Carter National Historic Site is hosting a BioBlitz, a partnership project with National Geographic focused on documenting all species within the National Historic Site. Visitors will come to three site locations (Plains Depot, Jimmy Carter Boyhood Farm and Plains High School) to take photos of any living species that they see using the digital app iNaturalist. Information and photos collected will be put into a database for the biodiversity in our park. This citizen science project’s main goal is to collect as much data in this two-day period as possible.
For these two days, approximately 40 volunteers are needed to assist in providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants. People who can work various exhibit tables, assist with set up and cleanup and entertain visitors both young and old are in demand. An expertise in the biodiversity of the park is not necessary, but mature and responsible individuals with strong work ethics are desired.
