Keep your pet healthy and help some jail dogs (and cats) find a home this Sunday at the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter.

The shelter and the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office are running a pet vaccine clinic on April 2 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

For $10 each, you can get your dog or cat  vaccinated against rabies, strongid and bordatella. There will also be $10 DHPP (distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza and parvovirus) canine influenza shots for dogs, and FVRCP (rhinotracheitis, calicivirus andpanleukopenia) for cats. Microchips will also be available for $25.

All proceeds from the event will go to the Society of Humane Friends of Georgia and Operation Second Chance, supporting the Jail Dogs and Cats program. The program pairs Gwinnett County Detention Center inmates with dogs and cats in the Gwinnett County Animal Shelter. The inmates help socialize and train the animals, preparing them for adoption.
