The Georgia Department of Transportation has announced nearly $109.4 million in highway construction contracts, with the largest, for $27.95 million, to widen and reconstruct a segment of Ga. 20 in Cherokee County.

C.W. Matthews Contracting Co. Inc. will widen 1.4 miles of Ga. 20 on the east side of Canton from two to six lanes from east of I-575 to Scott Road. The project, in a commercial area near Northside Hospital-Cherokee, is expected to be finished in the spring of 2023.

C.W. Matthews also was awarded a $4.97 million contract to resurface 6.3 miles of Ga. 400 from north of I-85 to south of Johnson Ferry Road in the Buckhead and Sandy Springs areas of North Fulton County. That job is to be completed in February, 2021.

A third metro Atlanta project will have Pittman Construction Co. resurfacing 6.3 miles of Ga. 124 in DeKalb County from north of the CSX railroad crossing to the Gwinnett County line, a $3.43 million project also to be completed in February.
