A broken gas line shut down a portion of Jones Bridge Road in Johns Creek Friday. A six-inch gas line was broken by construction workers shortly before 10 a.m. causing local authorities to close the street from Morton Road to State Bridge Road.

Johns Creek Chief Fire Marshal Chad McGiboney said crews from Atlanta Gas Light are on the scene, but there are no estimates for how long repairs will take and when the road will reopen.  No one is being evacuated, but residents of nearby Oak Landing subdivision are being advised to simply stay in their homes.

“If anybody leaves the subdivision, they are not allowed to return until the incident is over and nobody is allowed into the subdivision,” McGiboney said.
