Officials are thanking a local coffee shop after it donated $800 to the Johns Creek Public Safety Foundation.

Timothy Dukes, who opened Farmhouse Coffee & Crepes with his brother Richard in January 2016, said the police department hosted a "Coffee with a Cop" event there at his suggestion.

The opportunity for community members to voice their concerns and talk to police “ties everyone together, makes it like a family,” Timothy said.

The shop decided to donate its profits from the day of the event. The foundation was established in 2008 to assist firefighters and police officers — or their families — if they are injured or killed in the line of duty.

The Johns Creek Police Department thanked Farmhouse on Facebook and their coffee and crepes, calling them "amazing."

Timothy, who lives in Cumming, said he hopes the department hosts another event at his business in the future.
