A car carrying four people from Gwinnett County hit a pickup truck on I-85 North and crashed in southeast Alabama, killing two people and injuring two others, authorities said.

Thaddeus Freddie Bowman, the 27-year-old driver, and Terraneka Shavon Harris, 26, the front passenger, were pronounced dead at the scene early Monday in Auburn, according to multiple reports. Both died instantly from multiple blunt-force trauma injuries, Lee County Coroner Bill Harris said.

The Ford Fiesta carrying the Duluth residents swerved off the road after the collision and hit a tree, al.com reported.

Two passengers were in the back seat at the time of the crash.

A 17-year-old, who was ejected, was taken to East Alabama Medical Center and later to an Atlanta hospital after officials learned he had a cervical fracture, the Auburn Plainsman reported.

A 24-year-old was taken to a hospital in Columbus, treated and released.

The coroner said the accident may have been due to fatigue.
