10 from Gwinnett indicted in DEA Mexican cartel investigation

Four hundred pounds of methamphetamine, 175 pounds of cocaine, $2 million in cash and 10 firearms were seized in a DEA operation that resulted in 35 arrests, including 10 Gwinnett County residents.

Ten Gwinnett County residents have been indicted as part of an investigation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Gwinnett County District Attorney’s Office’s Drug Task Force.

Those arrested are believed to be associated with a Mexican drug cartel and money laundering organization, the DA’s office said.

The indicted suspects from Gwinnett County are:

• Angel Santiago, indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and one count of trafficking in methamphetamine

• Carlos Wilson Paz, indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and one count of trafficking in cocaine

• Carmelo Reyes-Lozano, indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a crime

• Cesar Leonel Perez-Flores, indicted on one count of conspiracy to commit a crime and one count of trafficking in methamphetamine.

• Raul Solorio-Campos, indicted on two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime

• Rony Omar Martinez-Colon, indicted on one count of trafficking in cocaine and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime

• Tracy Price, indicted on two counts of trafficking in cocaine and one count of conspiracy to commit a crime

• Nicolas Fernandez-Lopez, indicted on one count of trafficking in methamphetamine, two counts of trafficking in cocaine and two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime

• Jose Heredia Gonzalez, indicted on one count of trafficking in methamphetamine

• Kevin Ernest Contreras, indicted on one count of trafficking in methamphetamine

The investigation yielded 35 arrests across Gwinnett, Fulton, Coweta, Clayton, Barrow and Henry counties and in North Carolina. Law enforcement seized more than 400 pounds of methamphetamine, 175 pounds of cocaine, $2 million in cash and 10 guns over the course of the investigation.

The investigation began in Coweta County, but became centered on Gwinnett County in February 2017, the DA’s office said. Many metro Atlanta law enforcement agencies assisted with the investigation, including the Gwinnett Metro Task Force, Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office and Lawrenceville Police Department.
