The coming, statewide update of Georgia’s motor vehicle registration and titling system will mean the closure of all Forsyth County Tax Commissioner tag offices for data conversion over the Memorial Day holiday.

The tax offices will be closed Friday, May 24, through Monday, Memorial Day, May 27, Forsyth officials said. The offices will re-open at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 28. Separately, online and kiosk registration renewal services will go offline Tuesday, May 21, and return Thursday, May 30.

Customers may experience longer than normal wait times at tag offices following the upgrade, officials said. They suggested vehicle owners with renewal dates in May and June, who normally renew in person, to do so prior to May 20. Those who renew online will not experience delays.

The Georgia Department of Revenue is installing a new, Georgia Driver Record and Integrated Vehicle Enterprise System. Officials said DRIVES will enable more self-service options, improve customer service and enhance data integrity. Information: https://bit.ly/2VgLvNM
