The Forsyth County Animal Shelter is taking advantage of a nationwide “Clear the Shelters” pet adoption event this month to remind everyone that its “Summer of Love” promotion is still going, with pet adoption fees waived.

Clear the Shelters in Forsyth will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, at the Forsyth shelter, 4065 County Way, Cumming, according to a county announcement. The Summer of Love promotion runs through Sept. 3.

Ordinarily, the shelter charges an adoption fee of $85 per dog or cat. All pet adoptions come with microchipping, spaying/neutering and age-appropriate vaccinations, the county said.

"We would love to go home on Aug. 17 and know that we have found homes for all of the animals in our care," said Forsyth County Shelter Manager Cindy Iacopella. For information on the shelter and photos of adoptable pets: https://bit.ly/2vdEBd9
