During this week's swim meet, the 170 swimmers Alpharetta's Piranha Swim Team, ages 5 to 18, donated food items for the NFCC's "critical needs" list. Their visiting opponent, Crooked Creek, also participated. The swimmers along with neighborhood residents (who stopped by with items in wagons!) collected and sorted more than 800 pounds of food which was deliverd to North Fulton Community Charities. The Atlanta Community Food Bank is asking for food donations to help children in Atlanta facing hunger during the summer months.

The food bank’s “Summer Dish” drive on Thursday, July 16 will be drive-thru, with contactless drop-offs to keep residents and staff safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

“Help us stock our shelves by donating kid-friendly foods that will feed hungry children in metro Atlanta and North Georgia,” the food bank said.

Residents can visit the food bank’s new East Point headquarters to drop off food any time between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on July 16. The food bank is located at 3400 North Desert Drive. You can RSVP with an estimated drop-off time to Heather Moon at heather.moon@acfb.org.
