The newly constructed Flowery Branch Road Bridge over Interstate 85 in Buford reopened to motorists June 19. Georgia Department of Transportation construction partners closed the over 50-year old bridge for 165 days for construction of the new bridge.

This bridge replacement is part of the I-85 Widening, Phase 1 project, which was the first Major Mobility Investment Program project to break ground.

The remainder of the I-85 Widening, Phase 1 project is nearing completion and should be complete in third quarter 2020. Drivers are reminded to watch for posted speed limits and traffic control measures as construction continues.
