Parents and caretakers of 100-plus children will be seeking new day care arrangements after fire heavily damaged a Cobb County facility Sunday.

The roof collapsed at the Stars of Tomorrow Academy  in the 1400 block of George Busbee Parkway in Kennesaw, fire department spokesman Dan Dupree said.

No one was in the building and no one was injured, officials said.

Smoke and flames were reported coming from the building about 6:20 a.m., Dupree said.

After firefighters’ initial effort, they were forced out due to “structural integrity concerns,” he said.

The cause is not known.

Owner Shenette Zachary told Channel 2 Action News that 115 children attend the center.

“Thank God no children or staff was in my building,” Zachary said. She plans to rebuild.
