Streets in Atlanta were open to traffic and no protesters were around Saturday morning after a night of demonstrations against police-involved shootings.
The march that began at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights at 6 p.m. Friday ended early Saturday with few arrests and no reports of injuries, Channel 2 Action News reported. The march moved to the CNN Center, and then some protesters went to the Williams Street entrance to the Downtown Connector.
Georgia State Patrol officers prevented demonstrators from entering the connector.
The GSP assisted with three arrests, spokeswoman Tracey Watson said. Three women were charged with being pedestrians in a roadway, Atlanta police said.
The march was in protest of police-involved shootings of Alton Sterling in Louisiana and Philando Castile in Minnesota. The aftermath of both shootings were captured on cellphone video.
Organizers from NAACP and Black Lives Matter of Atlanta were involved in Friday’s march.
At midday Saturday, about 100 people were gathered in Centennial Olympic Park in response to the police shootings, Channel 2 reported. This event was organized by local churches.
