The Fayette County Board of Education’s February work session focused on a discussion of “big ideas” that would add new elements of innovation to the school system.

Among the topics discussed on Feb. 5 were adding world language programs to elementary schools, increasing the number of online course options and devising magnet programs at Sandy Creek and Fayette County high schools that might draw students from throughout the county.

Superintendent Joseph Barrow Jr. said Fayette must stay competitive in its educational offerings to meet the diverse needs of students, saying, “We can’t be hung up on how we’ve always done it.”
