Owners of corporate businesses located in Fayette County are now eligible to receive two free annual parking passes to use at the Lake Horton and Lake McIntosh reservoir parks.

The park perk was approved June 11 by the Board of Commissioners. The county began requiring passes for non-Fayette residents in 2015, charging $5 per car per day or $50 for an annual pass. Corporate passes cost $1 for a calendar year but can only be used 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday-Friday. Commissioner Randy Ognio suggested the free passes as a goodwill gesture to local businesses. Companies must apply for the stickers, which are assigned to individual vehicles and will allow for park use 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. during Eastern Standard Time and 6:30 a.m.-8:30 p.m. during Daylight Saving Time.

Amenities at the parks include walking trails, boat ramps and picnic areas, but swimming is prohibited. For information about getting a pass, contact the Parks & Recreation Department at 770-716-4320.
