State transportation officials have said a pothole is causing an “emergency lane closure” on I-75 southbound in northwest Cobb County.

The Georgia Department of Transportation sent out a news release Wednesday afternoon saying two right lanes of I-75 between Wade Green Road (exit 273) and Chastain Road (exit 271) would close at 3 p.m.

There was no estimated time for when the lanes would re-open, but GDOT spokeswoman Natalie Dale said the work should be finished before the Thursday morning commute.

It was initially only described as a “minor (bridge) deck issue.”

Until the lanes are back open, plan some extra time or avoid the area.
