The Duluth City Council on Monday approved a resolution that will let residents decide if they want retail sale of alcohol on Sundays.

The vote means Duluth is the latest city in the metro region to agree to a November referendum that will determine whether stores can sell alcohol on Sundays. Dacula, Sugar Hill and Suwanee, among others, have also recently approved similar measures.

The state Legislature approved such referendums on the local level after a five-year fight on Sunday sales. Gov. Nathan Deal signed the bill in late April.
