The 9-member DeKalb Board of Education has a training session at 8 a.m. Wednesday sponsored by AdvancED, the parent company of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, which accredits DeKalb. School chairman Tom Bowen said that the meeting is designed to help the board engage in best practices. Recently, the board was criticized because some board members walked out of a contentious public hearing. Bowen said this session was scheduled before that happened. The meeting, at 1701 Mountain Industrial Blvd., is open to the public.
