Fifteen DeKalb County police officers are expected to head to North Carolina this summer, to work the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.
An intergovernmental deal would allow the officers to help with security during the event, allowing local officers to remain in the community, said Police Chief William O'Brien.
There is no cost to DeKalb, since Charlotte will pay overtime for the team, made up of 12 officers and three supervisors. The officers were selected for the trip based on high performance during the past year.
The county commission is expected to approve the agreement at its Aug. 14 meeting.
