Update: The nursing home has passed its re-inspection with an 86. Read the report here.

PruittHealth, a nursing home on Panthersville Road outside Decatur, received a failing grade in its kitchen recently.

The inspector docked the kitchen after spotting a live nymph on the meat sink, lax hand-washing and employees making sandwiches with food that had been open more than a week, the report said. The kitchen got a score of 56 last Thursday, which was down from an 83 in February.

The inspector also found cups and lids stored near a mop sink, where they were in danger of contamination, as well as heavy build-up in the bottom of a cooler.

Hiywot Kasa, dietary manager, said Friday all issues had been taken care of except for cracks in the tile.

She said she expects to pass the next inspection, which should be within 10 days of the failed inspection.
