With a series of gunshots to the leg, Timothy Hobbs, a 38-year-old father of three, died outside a DeKalb County apartment complex.
It was June 11 around 3 a.m. at Highlands of East Atlanta on Flat Shoals Road.
Six months later, DeKalb County authorities believe they have finally arrested the killer.
Derrick Deonta Thurman, 26, nicknamed "Pooh Bear," was booked in the county jail last week and remains in custody without bond.
He's charged with murder, according to police records released this week.

Police haven't released a theory on what led to the shooting.
Hobbs' obituary said the Monticello native was "always smiling."
"He loved music, sports, grilling and spending time with his family," it said.
He had three daughters: Rihanna, Binky and Tereka.
Police found him near Building G at the apartments, where his girlfriend reportedly lived. He was laying on the staircase.
It isn't clear how, if at all, Hobbs and Thurman are connected.
Thurman lives in Building F.
