A 22-year-old died late Wednesday after being shot in the head by an acquaintance, police said.
Police declined to name the victim.
DeKalb County Police issued a warrant for murder for Robert Cooper, 26, of Lithonia.
The shooting occurred Tuesday afternoon outside a home in the 5600 block of St. Thomas Drive in the Lithonia section of DeKalb, police spokesman Officer Jason Gagnon said.
The argument escalated to a fist fight and then gunfire, Gagnon said.
One of the bullets struck the victim in the head, police said.
A friend rushed the victim to DeKalb Medical at Hillandale, where he was pronounced dead late Wednesday.
Police said the two men had an ongoing dispute.
Court records show Cooper was released from the DeKalb County jail on Monday on a $5,000 bond for forgery charges. He had been arrested Oct. 14.
Cooper has been booked in the jail at least seven times since 2001 on various charges, including on four counts of burglary. He alsoh has been charged with drug possession, possession of a firearm and violating his probation, according to court records.
