DeKalb delays decision on cellphone towers at schools

DeKalb County Schools has postponed a vote on a proposed contract with T-Mobile that would allow cellphone towers to be built on school campuses.

The phone company has held informational meetings at potential school sites. The company says the towers would improve cellphone coverage while providing revenue for the school district, but critics worry about the potential health hazards for students.

The school board voted Monday to postpone a decision on the contract after officials said school system lawyers needed more time to review it.
