If you’re a dog lover and avid book reader, this event is for you.

A DeKalb bookstore and Lifeline Animal Project are holding a joint book event and dog adoption on Sunday, Aug. 5.

Potential adopters can get their furry friend at the adoption price of $85.

According to Karen Hirsch, Lifeline representative, all the available dogs have been neutered or spayed, are up to date on shots, micro-chipped and house-broken.

Author Melissa Fay Green will be at Tall Tales Book Shop in North Druid Hills signing copies of her recent book, “The Underdogs: Children, Dogs and the Power of Unconditional Love.”

Hirsch believes the joint event makes sense based off of her book’s content.

“The book is about relationship between humans and dogs and kids so it makes sense to bring out some of our adoptables out,” said Hirsch.

The event will be held from 3 - 6 p.m.at 2105 Lavista Rd in the Toco Hills Shopping Center.
