A Cobb County grand jury has indicted a 21-year-old defendant on charges he allegedly hid the death of a man whose body was found behind a dumpster.

The grand jury on Thursday indicted Eric James Jinhong on one count each of concealing the death of another, battery and simple battery, court records show.

Jinhong was arrested and charged in June after police found the body of Jon Plymire behind a dumpster serving businesses at 316 Cobb Parkway South in Marietta.

According to the indictment, Jinhong punched Plymire in the face, “causing visible injury” to the victim’s head and eye. Once he was on the ground, Jinhong poured a can of beer over Plymire’s head, covered the man’s face with a T-shirt and changed his own appearance before leaving the area, the indictment alleges.

Marietta police spokesman Chuck McPhilamy told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that the department is still waiting for the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office to make a final determination on Plymire’s cause of death.

“We do not expect to hear from the ME’s office regarding this case for at least a few more weeks,” he said.

Jinhong was booked into the Cobb County Jail June 23 and remains held without bond.
