A Decatur man has received the highest commendation available from the Boy Scouts of America.

Ronald Coleman has received the Silver Buffalo Award for his work as a mentor with the national group. He was among 12 recipients of the award nationwide, which include Microsoft cofounder Bill Gates.

Coleman, 64, has worked with the Boy Scouts since 1985, when his son joined the group. The former Coca-Cola executive has been active on the local and regional level, serving as assistant scoutmaster for Troop 106 in Decatur, as well as been a member of the group’s Multi-Cultural National Executive Board.
