A Gwinnett County location of the popular Frontera Mex-Mex Grill failed its recent health inspection, with officials reporting dead flies, gnats and mold at various spots inside the restaurant.

The Frontera at 2137 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in Suwanee received a 69/U on the Monday morning inspection.

According to the inspection report, "dead fruit flies [were] present on cut limes in the bar area." "Several" live fruit flies and gnats were also observed flying in the facility.

In addition, "mold-like accumulations" were reported in two different areas of the restaurant's ice machine.

Other violations included freezer gaskets "in disrepair," "multiple" food items that were improperly heated and an employee's cellphone charger in direct contact with an open bag of tortilla chips.

Frontera has 12 locations in metro Atlanta, including nine in Gwinnett County. Management at the Suwanee location was not available for comment Tuesday morning.

A follow-up inspection will be completed within 10 days of Monday's evaluation.
