Update:

A restaurant partly owned by Braves great Dale Murphy passed its re-inspection after failing for cleanliness issues and problems with roaches.

Murph's, located near SunTrust Park, scored a 78 on Tuesday, according to Cobb County health department records.

Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

The eatery was docked points because an inspector saw a cook preparing food that was ready to eat with bare hands.

The inspector also saw a cook “place both hands in sanitizing bucket to retrieve wiping cloth and not change gloves after before touching ready to eat food.”

Dale Murphy's now-retired baseball number is 3. On Thursday, his restaurant was focused on a different number: 69.

That was the failing score his eatery — Murph's, located in the Cobb Galleria Centre near SunTrust Park — earned during its health inspection, according to Cobb County health department records.

Any score below a 70 is considered failing.

Live cockroaches were found near a water heater, the inspector wrote.

Chuck Douglas, a manager at Murph’s, said that the roaches were found in a corridor shared by other restaurants at the Galleria.

Douglas told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Friday that he had a pest control worker come to the restaurant while the inspector was still there.

To Douglas, the biggest issue was the malfunctioning main cooler.

“The biggest problem was the main cooler was ... keeping food at 45 degrees. It needs to be at 41,” he said.

That’s why he voluntarily closed the restaurant after 2 p.m. on Thursday.

“Anytime your main cooler is not at the temperature it needs to be, I shut it down,” he said.

The restaurant bearing the name of the Braves legend opened in June 2017 in mall area of the Galleria at the site of a former Buckhead Pizza.

"We want to make a place where people are comfortable and see some pictures that spark some memories and have some good food," Murphy, a part-owner, told The AJC at the time.

The restaurant earned a scored of 92 in November, records show.

As Douglas spoke with The AJC, his staff was preparing to re-open for Friday lunch.

“We don’t play around, especially when people’s health are at risk. We apologize for any convenience,” he said.

Follow-up inspections are usually done within 10 days of the original evaluation.
