Cherokee County is inviting residents to participate in a “virtual stakeholder meeting” about a potential truck bypass in Ball Ground.

“We are currently in the scoping study phase of this project and are here to solicit information from the public as well as to share information that we have already gathered,” according to a letter to stakeholders from Jim Wilgus, SPLOST roadway project manager.

Visitors to an Engineering Department web page will find links to a description of the issue – essentially, getting truck traffic from I-575 to Ga. 372 without going through downtown Ball Ground – a map showing potential bypass routings, and a comment card to give feedback to the project team.

Materials also will be available at Ball Ground City Hall and the Cherokee County Administrative Building in Canton.

Comments are due by July 3. They can be submitted through the project website; by email to jawilgus@cherokeega.com; or by mail to Jim Wilgus, Cherokee County SPLOST Program, 1130 Bluffs Parkway, Canton GA 30114.
