The DeKalb County Board of Commissioners voted recently to approve the de-annexation of properties that had been annexed by the Georgia State Legislature into the city of Doraville. As of Dec. 31, some properties in unincorporated DeKalb County were annexed into the city of Doraville through House Bill 1138.

Some business owners appeared to be unhappy with the decision and petitioned the county to allow them to go backk to unincorparted status. In all 44 owners signed de-annexation consent forms.

DeKalb County will now seek a similar resolution by the mayor and City Council of Doraville. The Georgia Code requires county approval as a pre-condition to the voluntary de-annexation of land by a municipal governing authority.
